In the hadeeth it says: "Do not pray against yourselves, do not pray against your children, and do not pray against your wealth, lest that coincide with an hour when Allaah is asked and He answers your prayers.". Narrated by Muslim (3009).
The most agreed upon among Muslim scholars as the "Istijabah" (acceptance) Surah is Surah Al- Anbiya. It is the 21st Chapter of the Holy Quran and contains 112 verses. It is the only Surah in the Quran that has the term "istajabna" meaning "answered". It is actually mentioned 4 times during various verses.
Conditions of accepting Du`a are: • You should call upon no one except Allah. • You should seek to draw close to Allah in one of the ways that are prescribed in Shari`ah. • You should avoid seeking a quick response. • The Du`a should not involve sin or severing of the ties of kinship. • You should think positively of Allah.
Answer. Allah (SWA) accepts those supplications, which are appropriate and proper from a Non Muslim. However, it is impermissible for Muslims to seek forgiveness for the disbeliever.
Duas of disbeliveers can be accepted by Allah, for he is all powerful. But in this case it was not due to this, as the earthquake killed virtually thousands upon thousands of people from every religion. But on the day of resurrection it will be the believers who will be separated and entered into paradise.
